Mission3-D is the parent company that invented, sells and manufactures the Photo3-D product line. Photo3-D is the brand name for a line of simple-to-use products that allow anyone to capture, create and share 3-D photos, using any digital camera. The first product introduced is the Photo3-D 303 Kit, which includes everything needed to quickly and easily take and share amazing 3-D photos. Two images are needed to create a 3-D photo, one for each eye, and separated some distance apart – as two eyes are. The Photo3-D adapter is specifically designed to capture a left-eye and right-eye image, known as a stereo-pair, quickly and easily. The Photo3-D software then mixes these two images, applying red and blue filters. When the combined image is then viewed using red-blue glasses, the image appears in 3-D. What comes with the Photo3-D 303 Kit ? The 303 Kit includes the Photo3-D Model 303 patent-pending camera attachment to capture the photos. The 303 unit mounts to any digital, 35mm or SLR camera using the standard tripod socket found on the bottom of the camera. The Kit also comes with easy to use Photo3-D Mixer software to create the 3-D photos, as well as a set of stylish Photo3-D red/blue glasses and paper viewers for sharing and viewing your 3-D images. Designed for still-image photography, the Photo3-D 303 camera attachment provides the simplest, most effective way to produce a stereo image pair. The unit provides a slide with two dead-end stops, with the distance between stops being the distance between an average person's two pupils, enabling easy 3-D viewing. The Photo3-D Mixer software will create a red-blue 3-D photo from these two images, which can be viewed using the red-blue Photo3-D glasses. Will Photo3-D work with film cameras ? Yes, the Photo3-D adapter will work with regular 35mm film, SLR or Polaroid cameras to capture the left and right eye stereo pair of images. However, those pictures need to be scanned or digitized (such as purchasing a Photo-CD) and loaded into a computer in order to mix them into a single 3-D image using the Photo3-D Mixer software. Can I convert my regular 2-D photos into 3-D ? While it is technically possible, Photo3-D does not offer a method for conversion at this time. One could achieve 3-D effects through photo-retouching or photo-editing, using the 2-D photo to create both a left and right-eye image. However, this is never as accurate as a stereo image, and is a lengthy and painstaking process. This is why Photo3-D was invented, to help anyone take 3-D photos quickly and easily. Go to www.ray3dzone.com to learn more. Why do I have to wear 3-D glasses and is there anyway to see 3-D images without wearing glasses ? The 3-D effect is created by combining, and filtering the left and right-eye stereo pair into one image. The red and blue filters reverse the filtering done during the mixing step, allowing the eyes to see both images at once, resulting in a 3-D image. Much like having to wear glasses to watch an IMAX 3-D moving, glasses must be worn to view a 3-D photo in 3-D. Of course, new technologies are always emerging, and some day you may be able to view 3-D images without glasses. Do 3-D photo albums or computer monitors exist so that I do not have to wear the glasses ? Currently, the only way to view 3-D images is with the use of glasses or specially designed products. There are several technologies under development, such as 3-D monitors and flat-panel screens, which hold the promise of 3-D viewing without glasses, but none are currently available. Mission3-D does supply a number of different style 3-D glasses for viewing, as well as 3-D Greetings™ - picture cards which come complete with a built-in 3-D viewer. Can I use Photo3-D indoors as well as outside ? Yes. Photo3-D can be used wherever a regular camera would be operated. The best 3-D photos require a lot of light.
